A nostalgic, down to earth, beautiful page drawn by two of comicdom's greats!
Congrats Bill!

I've seen one of these JRJR early Iron Man pages offered before on a claim show and they wanted double of my offer. It wasn't as nice as this. I must have been a cheapskate.
The castle setting is perfect for a knight in armor. Just like a movie star, he must have his helmet off to show the money maker. A very romantic page as Tony gleams in the moonlight with his feathered coiffed hairstyle and his adult stardom moustache. It leaves us with a dangling question of what service the lovely maiden was offering Tony late at night at the door of his bedroom quarters.

"...adult stardom moustache."
I guess that is a more family-friendly way of saying Porn-Stache! Ha!!! Love it!
Anyway, this is my JRJR. The early days. I don't much care for the 'modern' JRJR scribble-style, as I call it. This is a great page.

You lucky dog. Almost as lucky as Tony. He lands on his feet even when time travelling. God, I love Bob Layton Iron Man. The rest should just pack up and call it a day. That Romita Jr might go places too...

This is the type of page that I like.
Therefore, it cannot be strange to you that I think that you have... ¡¡a very good taste!!
And what can I say about the Romita Jr./Layton tandem! Simply one of my favorite artistic teams, especially between 1978 and 1981 ...

Great page, Bill! Pages with heroes without their masks (or shell heads) always amuse me. This here has always been the definitive look of Tony Stark for me.

All time classic story is right. The cover to this issue is seared into my brain. Congrats on snagging a page from this epic book. You are on quite a roll.

If I understood irony, I might say that finding a page that fulfills an adolescent dream, that itself features a three panel sequence about fulfiling an adolescent dream... might qualify! Big congrats (now I have to delete my browser history)!

Heard someone on yesterday's Collector Conversation say something about an Iron Man piece you recently posted and had to check it out. I feel like most Bob Layton Iron Man peices I see, depict him in full armor. It's refreshing to see him draw Tony without the helmet. Love that build-up of angles for that 3rd panel too. Awesome page, Bill.

Incredible content aside, when you see pages like this, they really exemplify the term of a comic artist being a draftsperson. The attention to details that even the viewer can overlook, is superb. This was the best era for comic art. Much of the art today looks like an open pen was stuck on a convulsing gerbil.
