Description

Here is the original artwork for a logo to Robert Crumb's seminal comic, ZAP. Collector Eric Sack told me he spoke with Crumb about this logo, and Crumb told him it was created in 1967-68 as a potential logo to the first issue; A different logo was ultimately used, and this one was eventually published as the logo for Zap mini #7, in 1972. I love this time period of Crumb's work, and I think this piece is tremendously historic, given Zap's place in history, as the LSD induced successor to Harvey Kurtzman's ground breaking MAD. A perfect piece with many of his well known characters including Big Baby, Mr. Snoid, Honeybunch, Mr. Robot, and even Groucho! I'm thrilled to have this. I framed it with a light image of the first cover, for historical context.

Thanks a lot! I thought long about this. The lower art portion is only at 40% so that it is clear to the viewer that it isn't original art, but it gives the logo historical context.
