Description

So excited to pick up a piece by one of my art heroes Joe Kubert! Growing up in the 90�s the first place I encountered Joe Kubert�s work was on a Ghost Rider book of all things and my copy of his book on drawing superheroes is almost as worn as my copy of How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way. Later I found back issues of Tor and that�s where I really fell in love with his work but somehow this awesome 6 issue stint on Punisher War Zone eluded me until just a few years ago. Kubert brings his A-game to every project and somehow even makes a character like the Punisher feel like his own with powerful storytelling chops and his beautiful organic inking style that�s identifiable from a mile away. Ultimately a grail for me would be a Tor page but I�m beyond happy with this beautiful splash and grateful that I happened to catch it in Albert�s recent drop.

The Joe Kubert linework creates figures, scenes, and an atmosphere unlike anyone else. He chooses the stories that are best suited to the raw nature of man mixed in with powerful tension. The characters look well worn, like they belong in their world.
