Description

1967 Spider-man model cel with two Spidey swinging poses.

Before the first Spider-man cartoon was created, the Marvel Super Heroes cartoons, produced also by Grantray-Lawrence Animation, were very limited in animation often taking comic book panels and reproducing them on-screen for speed.

With the Spider-man cartoon, Grantray-Lawrence went away from this format with all original animation, but saved a little time by only animating webs on the head, hands and feet. They did however for the model cel, swipe a couple of John Romita's panels from his first issue of Amazing Spider-man #39 (1966) who was also a creative consultant on the show and credited.

Very cool! Nostalgia factor runs high as I clearly remember those images from JRSR's first issue of ASM! Congrats!
