DescriptionFell in love with Deadman when I discovered the baxter reprints of the Neal Adams stories back in the 80s as a wee lad. Soon after found JGL's Deadman mini and DC presents issues and became a huge fan! Been looking for Deadman art by Garcia-Lopez since the late 90s. This series from early 2000s really stood out to me and this cover in particular was my #1 JGL wish. Missed this one when it became available, but eventually talked its previous owner into a deal. Had to give up several nice JGL pages to get this, but oh so happy with this One and Done example. The Spectre is the cherry on top!Nowlan, for his part is a great inker and sometimes over powers the pencils with his own style. Happily, this is not the case here and I couldn't be happier with his effort! As always, Thanks for checking out my gallery! Social/Sharing |

It's always nice to see Deadman by JLGL !! And you're right, Nowlan's inks don't overpower the pencils. Also, Nowlan's very fine ink lines are also complementary.

One of my all-time favorite JGL/Nowlan covers. And not just because of my hand fetish. Had a couple of chances to buy this one over the years. I'm guessing I didn't because I either didn't have the funds or maybe just chasing yet another Art Adams piece. LOL! Such a great, great, cover by two modern masters.

Glad you were able to end up getting this, DF, checking that box in a BIG way! I, too, have always liked Deadman's design, and this is an outstanding respresentation by 2 classic creators. Love those Spectre hands, too. Congrats!

Correction: Nowlan DOES overpower Garcia-Lopez's line, so the line quality is clearly Nowlan's. But the inks DON'T overpower the underlying anatomical structure, because that is far too good and uniquely recognizeable for any overpowering inker to hide. Even the great Bill Sienkiewicz wouldn't be able to cover up the obviousl pencilling wizardry of JLGL! Congrats, this artistic pairing is one of the most beautiful to ever grace the comics pages and their work on this series is magnificent!

Wow! What a striking cover! Gorgeous work by Jose Garcia Lopez and Kevin Knowlan. The Deadman figure alone is beautifully drawn and inked and then it gets even better when you add in the close-up portrait of the Spectre with his hands raising up Deadman. Garcia-Lopez's figurework is incredible here. And Nowlan's inks really emphasize the beauty of the pencils underneath. Great pick-up, congrats!

Two of my favorite DC characters on the same cover by a legend. I have a few pages from this series but nowhere near as spectacular as this.
