DescriptionMy first introduction to Alex's work was his Terminator mini series. I remember being amazed by the look of it. Marvels came next and really blew me away. Have admired his work ever since. While Captain America is not a character I actively collect, I was really impressed with many of Ross's Cap covers and this one really spoke to me. What I really like about it was the fade-away technique Alex used, pioneered by Cole Phillips in early illustration art. This is a technique Alex used before. See additional images for an example of a piece by Cole that is owned by The Met (but sadly not on display. they really need to join CAF to share there un-displayed art).As always, Thanks for checking out my gallery. Just stunning. In no universe is Alex Ross underrated but he's been doing it so well for so long, I feel we don't mention his genius enough.

A really superb example. The deep black isn't something we see often with Ross's work but he uses it extremely effectively here. Congrats!

This is sublime! I love the image of Cap over the deep black background juxtiposed by the extreme lighting of the figures to each side of him. A fantastic Ross cover, congrats dude!

What a bold choice for color pallette - the darker tones on the Cap balance so well with the much lighter reds on this cover. Congrats - this is a stunner!

I like the use of the diagonal black strip splitting the two background images and also serving as a cool artistic technique.

This is a great cover! I love the composition of Cap taking center while framed with the dark diagonal design.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a gorgeous Alex Ross painting! Love the full color Captain America in the black band, over the red color close-ups of Steve Rodgers and Spider-Woman. Absolutely stunning cover! Fantastic pick-up, huge congrats!
