I have been a big fan of the Ice Cream Man comic since it came out. The horror anthology series featuring the demonic Ice Cream Man as an influential, peripheral presence in the stories has become a cult hit with comic collectors and critics. And the artwork by Martin Morazzo is especially suited to the creepy, disorienting vibe of the book.

One thing Morazzo has done in the past couple of years has been to homage famous comic book covers and even children's book artwork (such as Dr. Suess), for covers to the series. More recently the series has added homages to famous works of art. And this one just stood out to me. It is an adaptation of MC Escher's famous work, Relativity. But it adds a couple of cool features. First, it has a tiny little depiction of the Ice Cream man himself. Second, it has the title of the comic series on it. A rarity for today's modern comic art. In other words, it depicts the cover almost exactly as it is, title included. It only lacks some trade dress and the UPC box. In any case, it's a fun page from a really great series. In this particular issue, the protagonist is struggling with drug addiction, as evidenced by his holding a book entitled "12 Step Program." Juxtaposed with the Escher homage, you can get a feel for what the story is about.

Ice Cream Man is a fantastic series and this is definitely one of the best covers done for the series. Congrats!

A beautiful piece to one of today's best comic series. Possibly Morrazzo's best cover of the series with the high effort required to mimmic the Escher illustration.

The Ice Cream Man tribute covers are classic. An amazing Escher tribute here. The details are stunning. Beautiful artwork.
