DescriptionA few new pieces of art arrived today. This one is by Fortunino Matania, but I haven't been able to ID it yet. On the back, it has written in pencil, "No. 938" and below that "The Spirit Tree of Ajumboe" (at least I think it's an "e" at the end, could be i, r or s instead). In pen, there's also the code 13872.It's possible it appeared in the British illustrated newspaper, The Sphere -- he provided the cover for issue no. 938 of that, dated January 12, 1918. But I can't find the interior of that issue anywhere online. Anyway, if anyone has any idea of what this was used on, I'd love to hear it! Social/Sharing |
