I've been following Claire Wendling's work on Facebook for a number of years now, and when Stuart Ng announced that he was publishing a sketchbook ("Forget-Me-Not"), I jumped in on the pre-orders. Soon after my book arrived, Stuart announced that some copies with original drawings would be sold online. I was on my way to start a vacation, and when Stuart's email arrived, I poured through the various images, until I found that one that sang to me. I have a penchant for winged figures, and this drawing just did it for me. Stuart kindly agreed to hold the book for me until I could pay for it after vacation, but he even more kindly went ahead and shipped it, so that the book was waiting for me when I arrived home. I was truly stunned by how beautiful the piece is in person. Try as I might, the scan cannot capture the delicacy of Claire's work, the subtlety of the tones, and her sweet, sweet line.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I believe Wendling to be one of the finest artists alive whose understanding and execution of the human form rivals that of Frank Frazetta!
