Description

For quite a while I was preoccupied with locating Sandman pages from the earlier arcs on the basis that they were harder to locate than the likes of Jill Thompson and Marc Hempel. Suddenly I woke up to the fact that I still didn't have my Hempel Sandman example and now the really nice ones were harder to find and of course much pricier. Eventually I spotted one I liked featuring the King of Dreams confronted by Odin and pounced! My thanks to Joe.

Just need to find one with Death now...

You know what a Hempel fan I am in general - and his high watermark IMHO was his Sandman run. The lower left panel is stunning!

"Just need to find one with Death now..." I second that, Hempel's interpretation of Death is to die for. In the meantime this is an awesome example of an outstanding artist who contributed some of the most striking imagery to Gaiman's magnum opus.
