Description

I grew up enthralled by Frank Miller's Daredevil run. The double sized issue 181 Death of Elektra was one of the most memorable comics I'd ever read and I remember wondering where it could go from there. The Roulette story in 191 struck a very different tone, a harder colder Daredevil and the artwork both in its wide open panels and the Terry Austin inks, markedly different to Klaus Janson. After the death of Elektra was this the death of Bullseye??
After getting over my initial shock I've come to appreciate DD 191 as a wonderfully fitting finale to the Miller run.

Interestingly I believe this page was once owned by Kevin Eastman of TMNT fame and the dedication references the Turtles. Which is amusing since the Turtles started out as a parody of Miller's Daredevil.

Not the best scan as the page is framed.

Can't really recall an instance when I didn't both enjoy and appreciate Austin's inks.  So this issue was an interesting change of pace.  Love the silhouttes in the top four panels.  Although Terry didn't have to do much by way of interpreting Frank's pencils there, his influence does come through on the rest of the page.

Excellent page, Joseph. I own page 3 from this issue. I'd always wanted a Miller/Austin and it sort of showed up one day, so I just went ahead and paid way too much for it!

My favorite story among all those of Devil signed by Miller. I will probably attract a lot of criticism, but I believe Austin's inks are even more effective than Janson's. Imho obviously.
