DescriptionSometimes life can be GREAT!Words can't tell you how fortunate I feel to have won this cover. The is the Dick Giordano cover to a key issue, The Flash #275 (1979), which featured the death of the Flash's wife, Iris West Allen, a shocking turn of events that was not undone for many years. On the cover we see Barry and Iris attending a superhero-themed costume party where Barry is wearing his Flash outfit because he forgot to pick up the Batman outfit that goes with the Batgirl costume Iris is wearing. In the foreground we see a party-goer dressed at the Golden Age Sandman from Earth-Two using his gas gun on a party-goer dressed as Bizarro while others dressed as DC heroes and villains dance in the background. This story ends with a drugged Flash waking up at the party to find a dead Iris next to him. It was eventually revealed that the Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne/Professor Zoom) put his vibrating hand into Iris's skull to kill her. This was a huge change to the status quo of one of DC's biggest heroes. Social/Sharing |

Giordano drew a great cover. Noone could see this one coming. One of the saddest events in my comics reading life. RIP Iris West Allen
