Description

Well, definitely limited myself to lots to go after this Heritage.
There were 2 key items and some other items that caught my eye. The most important was this, Sub-Mariner #67, the first issue with Namor in the Black "disco" costume. Full pencils by John Romita Sr.

I've got multiple copies of the comic, plus the action figure and the mini-replica comic. To get the cover is just, wow. Just wow.

More info:

Seawinds of Change! Guest-starring Triton and the Fantastic Four. Script by Steve Gerber. Pencils by Don Heck. Inks by Frank Bolle. Cover by John Romita and Mike Esposito. Prince Namor narrowly escapes from the clutches of Orka and the She-Beast! But his wild burst of speed through the ocean sends him careening into a naval vessel loaded with deadly nerve gas! Fortunately Triton is nearby and scoops up the unconscious Sub-Mariner and rushes him to the Baxter Building! The FF are currently in the middle of their own crisis, but Reed volunteers to help! After fighting with Ben and Johnny, the Avenging Son calms down and accepts aid from his occasional (fantastic) adversaries. However the fallout from the nerve gas release for both Namor and Atlantis...is only just beginning! Cameo appearances by Wyatt Wingfoot, Tamara, and Force. Fantastic Four Lineup: Mr. Fantastic, Medusa, Thing, and the Human Torch. (Notes: The Sub-Mariner debuts his new costume. This story takes place between the first and second halves of Fantastic Four 140. Orka returns in Avengers 149. Elements of the story continue in the Super-Villain Team-Up (1975) series. This issue is dedicated to the memory of Bill Everett, the Sub-Mariners creator. The letters page includes an essay from Steve Gerber describing the future plans for the Sub-Mariner series. This story was reprinted in 2002 as part of the Marvel Legends AF reprints.)

Great image and as the anti-hero element in the dialogue - as well as those cool FF headshots!

This was probably my favorite piece from the auction.  Absolutely love this cover!  Romita really did an amazing job on this.  Just look at all that work at the bottom of the piece.  I am so, so, jealous.  I take my hat off to you sir.

Thanks Eric.  This was a hard one to let pass, so went in as much as I could.  Really lucky to have gotten it.

Typical Romita, the adjective that always comes to my mind when I see his art is "classy"

Congrats!  Great acquisition!  I don't even collect Namor but was tempted by this cover!  I've always liked this costume (I think partly because the first time I saw it was in the impactful Defenders 13).

What an amazing and historic cover introducing Subby's new costume with an FF cameo as a bonus! Jon Romita had a knack for creating memorable covers and this was one of his very BEST!!! Always loved the black costume- so cool and so completely unique... it was the perfect new look for this regal and powerful character!
