Description

It's Moon Knight Week and here's a page I recently picked up in C-Link! I love the energy and frantic action to this page!

Moon Knight #15 (1982) featuring Moon Knight in battle with Xenos and his deadly rats. Xenos was a radical right police office who believed that foreigners were responsible for ruining America and wanted to kill as many as possible. Over 40 years ago master artist Sienkiewicz began his career working on Moon Knight stories. Sienkiewicz's work early on Moon Knight was strongly influenced by the great Neal Adams. Over time, the young artist began to evolve his style to the much more abstract approach you see in his work from the mid-1980s on. In 1982 Sienkiewicz's work was in transition from his original style to his new style. It's a nice balance that's very pleasing to the eye.

Synopsis for "Ruling the World from His Basement"
Someone is attempting to assassinate foreign dignitaries and at one point Moon Knight is witnessed as the assailant. Spector isn't responsible, as far as he knows, but a string of headaches has him worried that a rogue personality may be acting outside his memory. His fears are allayed when the culprit makes a subsequent appearance in a rat costume and calling himself Xenos. It turns out to be police Sgt. Gwenn, a covertly racist and xenophobic conspiracy theorist that had taken Moon Knight as inspiration, seeing him as a great "white knight", until witnessing his hero save the life of an Indian woman and became disillusioned. In their final showdown, Xenos is sneaking up on Moon Knight, but accidentally steps on a rat trap, alerting his target and leading to his defeat.

Classic stuff!  Bill Sienkiewicz was really hitting his stride on Moon Knight at this time; those issues were must reads for me each month and this is a great page!  It's got several Moon Knight panels, but my favorite is that creepy rat in the middle panel!  Congratualtions!

Great page, Nick. The rats attacking ramp up the tension in the scene to Fear Factor 10!

Great page - the only reason I read Moon Kmighyt back then was because of Sienkiewicz's art!

The influence of many of Neal's classic Batman from Detective comics when they introduced more supernatural elements to the mythos.  Sienkiewicz makes them all work on this Moon Knight page.
