I was so sad to hear that John Watkiss had died recently. He had such an original vision and his draftsmanship was phenomenal --- what a great designer of folds in cloth, faces, shadows, you name it. His compositions are always strong. I picked up a couple cool and representative pre-production drawings he did, one for the movies (Riddick, which I have since sold) and another for TV (Walking Dead, shown here). I really love the mood and solidity of the figure here, achieved almost entirely in silhouette with just a couple accents. His comic work was amazing as well; if you've never seen it, check out the B&W art he did for the first issue of Ring of Roses, for instance. Thanks to Steve for a very enjoyable transaction!
