DescriptionWorld's Finest Comics # 323 January 1986"Afraid Of The Dark" page 21 second to last page Ink over pencil on DC Comics board Pencils: José Delbo (Signed bottom center) Inks: Alfredo Alcala (Signed lower left) Letters: Duncan Andrews Writer: Joey Cavalieri This was around the time of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, which changed a lot of things. Superman and Batman were no longer pals, which made sense considering they were complete opposites in every way. At best, Batman and Superman would co-exist in the DC Universe for almost the next two decades before reuniting in Superman/Batman. After several poor stories and artistic mistakes, finally someone shoots the lame horse in World's Finest #323, ending the title's 45 year run. Superman is victimized by a magic-based villain named Nightwolf, whom Batman takes down. Afterwards, Batman tells Superman to stop charging into things without thinking, and dissolves their partnership. This page is so epic for me. I still can't believe I have it. Alcala is one of the first artists I ever noticed and appreciated with his He-Man work in the early 80's I have been looking for historic pages and I think I hit it out of the park. Social/Sharing |

Amazing, historic page !! Congrats !I knew you would like it Gal. Funny how the only two pages on CAF are this and the last one. Saw it on ebay with a BIN so I took advantage of it. It was only for sale about half a day. It looks so much better in person. Love all the hash marks & the huge superman panel.

Wow what an awesome page and Alcala's signature just adds more to this piece. He is a legend in my country and I am also fortunate to have an inked piece from him! I'd love to get my hands on the last page of this issue though. Wow!

The last page is cool but I like the dialogue in this page better and it offers a lot more texture and inking techniques. If someone owned both pages it would be like merging both halves of the He-Man sword. lol Thanks for the kind words Jovi. Your end of the year additions are amazing. I hope you saved something for next year.

Alcala did some amazing inking during his DC tenure this book is only one example. Not sure how I missed this great page on CAF for so many years. What I find interesting is the last 2 pages of WF 323 Dialog-wise are all-time classics the rest of the book is totally forgettable.
