Description"Your dream, Magneto, cannot endure because it will forever be tainted by the blood of those you've sacrificed along the way!""You dare condemn me, Xavier! After what you've done!" Jim Lee defined the look of the X-Men in the early 90s, and even though I hadn't started reading comics yet, I felt his influence through the animated series, toys, video games, merchandising, and the general art style that persisted through the comics in the mid to late 90s. Unsurprisingly, I was drawn towards his adjectiveless X-Men run and tried to pick up some art from those issues when I started collecting. This page was actually one that I wanted to pick up back then, except I let it slip through my fingers and watched it change owners over the years. The previous owner eventually decided to let this page go and was gracious enough to keep me in mind, so I'm glad to (finally) be its new caretaker. There are only three issues of the adjectiveless X-Men run that Chris Claremont wrote, and this page from issue #3 stood out because of the exchange between Professor X and Magneto. Their differing views on how humans and mutants should coexist is at the heart of their (at times, heartbreaking) conflict, and this page captures that perfectly. It has some great Magneto shots in panels 1 and 3 (plus a tiny Rogue and Cyclops), but the dialogue seals the deal. Yes, it's over-the-top in typical Claremont fashion, and I love it. Thanks, Mike! And in a weird bit of cosmic coincidence, my Pepe Larraz X-Men page has the exact same issue and (story) page number, just from a later volume. Social/Sharing |

That's such an iconic Magneto in the third panel. Congrats buddy!

All of Lee's X-designs were iconic, but Magneto has always felt even more so than most of the cast. Great duel between two pillars of that era!

A grail! This series cemented what would be the prevailing art style of the industry as Lee and Williams took superhero comic art to a level of excitement fandom really responded to.

Huge congrats on this historic beauty! Wow!! Love seeing pages from this 90's X-Men run and seeing where they landed. Jim Lee, Art Thibert and Andy Kubert art from this era were so nostalgic for me. The art here is magnificent. Cheers!

Stunning Lee/Williams X-Men page. I especially love that first panel of Magneto letting loose! Great pick-up, congrats!

I considered including this one but decided to include their FF page instead since that run gets less attention, but it was a tough call to leave this out. Next time :)

Woooo!! Let out a Ric Flair exclamation for you! GREAT example from the first fews with Xavier and Mags prominently featured. Got all you'd want in a Jim Lee page. And that's funny about your Larraz page. I got something similar. Check out my 2 pages inked by Jimmy Palmiotti, one from DD and one from Punisher. Got a few similarities that were total coincidence.
Boig congrats on this gem, Kin!
