Description

John Watkiss (1961-2017) worked in many media throughout his career, including comics, advertising, illustration, and film & television production.

His work on film and TV includes (amongst other things) Tarzan, Treasure Planet, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Sherlock Holmes, and The Walking Dead.

This is a production concept illustration (ca. 2011) storyboard for The Walking Dead on AMC. It features the first appearance of Michonne, dragging her "pets" behind her with signature katana drawn. Done in pencil, ink, and charcoal.

This is a beautiful drawing, but I am so sad to read that Watkiss has died. Such a fantastic artist.
