A pivotal moment. That's quite a find. ![]() Thanks. I had the honor of meeting with Kelly and hand-selecting a couple pieces that I would like to purchase from him. I was very sad to hear of his passing, he was a really nice guy. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet with him and talk about his work. |

BraveStarr animation cel setup Owner: Trent C. Comment posted on 4/23/2019
Adam Sagittarius said:
If you're wondering about the episode, as I said in other comments, this is a Filmation cel and should be easy to track down. "BS" (for BraveStarr, not to be confused with Filmation's earlier "BS" for Blackstar) is your show production code and the number after BS will be your episode. If you pull up the episode list on Wikipedia, you'll see that the production codes (far right number on the chart) are nowhere near being in line with air date. Because you have several cels stacked in this set-up, I can't read the number after BS at the bottom, but it looks like it is probabaly 41. If it is 41, that would be "Rampage", episode 6 by air date. Just FYI. Nice cel! ![]() Thanks very much for the info, I'll take a closer look at the separate cels and see if I can track it down. |

Despite the odd tagline "Fightin' Crime in a Future Time" (how did they know they were fighting crime in the future? wouldn't it just be the present for them?), C.O.P.S. was a fun show that I think is often underrated. Great cel - a Bulletproof cel has eluded me. No idea on the episode, but I'm (slowly) rewatching the series (the complete series on DVD is pretty cheap right now - just picked it up). I'll keep an eye out for this scene as I go through. I lucked out and found one of my cels in the first episode of the first season - love it when that happens. ![]() You're right - I love tracking down the cels in the episodes, even moreso when it's in the first episode! I've gotten lucky a few times (In particular, the Destro cel I picked up from GI Joe happened to be from my favorite episode as a kid, and I didn't know it at the time that I bought it!) |

Great close up M.A.S.K. cel. I can't ID the episode, but most M.A.S.K. cels I've seen are from season 2 (the racing season). I have a few from "Battle of the Giants" (S2 E4) and cels from that episode make up most of what I've seen come to market in 2018 -2019. Hardly any are this nice, though. Loved that show! ![]() Thanks, I really liked the show too. And I agree, most cels that come up seem to be from the racing episodes, and almost never with backgrounds unfortunately |

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animation cels Owner: Trent C. Comment posted on 4/23/2019
Adam Sagittarius said:
Nice Skeletor cel - you have some really nice pieces in this collection! Filmation cels are usually the easiest to track down in the animation because they were meticulous about labeling each and every cel with the the production code for the show and episode. So, for this cel, it says "MU" (Masters of the Universe) "STK", which is a "stock" cel that was intended to be reused when needed. Since this is a stock cel, you may find this exact pose / cel in several MotU episodes. ![]() Thanks! I try hard to find good representative examples from each of the shows. I've looked through some episodes but haven't yet found it, although I haven't looked very thoroughly yet. |

She Ra Princess of Power animation cel Owner: Trent C. Comment posted on 4/23/2019

Good, full body She-Ra cel! Filmation cels are usually the easiest to track down in the animation because they were meticulous about labeling each and every cel with the the production code for the show and episode. Oddly, this cel is from She-Ra, which *usually* has a production code of "PP" ("Princess of Power"), but this cel doesn't have the typical PP marking before the numbers. If I had to guess, I'd say this cel is a stock cel that was reused in several episode. I'm guessing that it is a stock cel because of the pose - She-Ra walked around a lot! ![]() Thanks for the info! It was my impression that this was probably a stock cel as well, even though it doesn't have the "STK" designation. Haven't looked through thoroghly enough to find it yet though... |

Blackstar animation cel setup Owner: Trent C. Comment posted on 4/23/2019
Adam Sagittarius said:
Good Blackstar cel from a pre-MotU classic that didn't quite catch on (but probably influenced Filmation's production of MotU). Filmation cels are usually the easiest to track down in the animation because they were meticulous about labeling each and every cel with the the production code for the show and episode. This cel is labeled "BS" (Blackstar) "1", which means that this cel is from BS 1. I can't find a list of production codes for Blackstar, but it is most likely either from the first or second episode (there is a note on the episode list that says the first scripted / aired episode was not the first produced - it is common to find that air date chronology and production order are not the same). So, I would look for this pose in episode 1 or 2 of Blackstar. Great cel! ![]() Thanks for the info and the help! I did a quick scrub through a few episodes back when I acquired the cel, but didn't find anything. I'll check through again! |

Starcom: The US Space Force animation cel Owner: Trent C. Comment posted on 4/23/2019
Adam Sagittarius said:
Nice Starcom cel. I thought this might be from "Caverns of Mars" or "Dark Harvest", but I was going off the background more than the pose (so, if the background isn't key for this cel, I was already on wild goose chase). Can't guarantee it, but, I don't think it was either of those episodes. The good news is, there are only 13 episodes to comb through if you really want to find this Starcom cel in the animation. If I happen to come across ol' Slim with his pictol drawn when I rewatch the series to match my cels, I'll let you know. ![]() thanks for the help! |

Hi Trent, this is from an episode of Superman the Animated Series called Speed Demons. It's a really fun episode where Flash and Superman are going to race around the world to see who is faster. The Weather Wizard has different plans for them though. It's worth watching if you get a chance. This is a great cel from the episode!
