DescriptionIn 2012, I was a relatively young 32 year old and just learning about the world of original comics art. I had a four day pass for the New York Comic-Con, which starts on Thursdays. The final issues of The Boys had come out a few months before and I was still reeling from their brilliant ending. I knew nothing about original art, but decided that I needed to buy this page. I was in the opening line for New York Comic-Con and when they let us in, I ran to Artist's Alley and then to Russ Braun's table, hoping against hope that he hadn't sold the pages yet. When I got to his table, somewhat breathless, I was overjoyed to find out he still had the page and another one I wanted, the page where Black Noir unmasks. So I handed over my cash to Russ, but I didn't want to carry the page for the next four days, so Russ kindly agreed to keep the page in his portfolio until the end of the show. Apparently, that caused much chagrin because multiple art collectors saw the page in Russ's portfolio and thought that it was still up for sale. So this is the first piece of original art I ever bought, back in 2012. It was another five years before I seriously got into this hobby. But from that day forward, I had a new hobby that enriched my life considerably. Some of my most durable friendships are with people I met through this hobby, including Russ, who has become a very good friend. So here's to each and every collector in this crazy hobby of ours. We all have different origin stories but we all came to the same place. Social/Sharing |

Such a fantastic page that marks the end of wild ride that was The Boys as Hughie and Butcher are both fatally wounded and it's left to us to imagine their fate off panel. Braun carried this seminal title to the finish line and flawlessly brought Ennis' story to a satisfying conclusion.

Great page, and great story. Congrats on holding on to the pair all these years later!
