Description

Wonderful early Mickey Mouse daily by the great Floyd Gottfredson. This comes from the 14th Mickey Mouse continuity (YM 014) “Mickey Mouse Sails for Treasure Island” and has a very cartoony vibe to it.
This is the only surviving daily from this specific storyline that I’m aware of and one of the rare 1931/32 dailies that were inked by the great Al Taliaferro. In addition it’s also the second oldest surviving daily (again only to my knowledge) that bears a dedication (Walt Disney dedicated & presented the March 7th 1930 daily to Sergej Eisenstein, which now resides in the Moscow Museum of Cinema) and the similarity to my own name ultimately sold the piece to me… :-))
First published June 24th 1932…

Big congratulations! :-) One more Gottfredson into your awesome collection ;-) And this is again a museum piece, or as said earlier, we need a higher scale definition: this is Monty's piece! This time literally!! ;-)

Shows the magical quality that defined the character of Mickey as a feisty everyman during depression years. The adventure and action aspects are great and has the animation feel.
