Description

Early painting whcih i hae owned for years- cnetral clown looks a bit like Lon Chaney in he who laughs
Would love to knwo the artist and where it may have appeared
This one actually came out of Chciago back i nthe 1980's - in an odd lot of art that included a Gil Elvgren ad piece, a Hargens western nude , a CC Senf Weird tales cover and this!
It might be a circus poster or otehr adverstising piece though there is sort of an unsettling effect of the sprt pf demented clown in the front and the othes laughing in the back.
One of thsoe interesting long term mysteries in my collection

Looks like a creepy coloring book cover, or program art. Didn't the circus winter in Spring Green area? Lots of circus stuff seems to turn up in Wisconsin.

Actaully this turned up in Chicago whcih is not that far from Baraboo Wi- and yeah it is a creepy clown painting! He looks a lot like Lon CHaney as the clown in he who gets slapped
