DescriptionSecond of 2 posts tonight from ‘80s Iron Man introducing/featuring the Silver Centurion (SC) armor! These books were my first real exposure to the Iron Man title as I got a stack starting with issue #200 from my older brother...I pored over them all the time! I just really dug the SC look and a lot of that, obviously, had to do with the dynamic duo of Mark Bright and Bob Layton...and here’s a great example!Got this beaut from Bechara Maalouf (Nostalgic Investments) at C2E2 2018. Got Iron Man in my fave armor in action in all 5 panels and I just like the overall flow of the page. Panel 1’s the set up, panel 2’s got some repulsor blasting, panel 3’s the windup for the punch, and panel 4...WHROK! The big punch then the fallout in panel 5. Iron Man’s still got some work to do after this page but has clearly made some headway! Glad to have picked up this piece with nice representative shots by the premier, and premiere, SC team of Bright/Layton. They’re not very easy to come by these days. Bechara only had it a few days from a recent trade and I doubt it would’ve lasted very long. Hard to beat great looking art that takes you back to some of your first and favorite comics as a kid! Thanks for looking, all! Social/Sharing |

Although I have always loved the classic armor, I recall how cool the red and silver armor was the first time I saw it. Instantaly became my favorite design. A great blast from the past. Congrats.

Exactly, DF! I remember reading issue 200 and seeing Stark gear up on one page then the big splash reveal on the next - SOLD! The overall design and high nostalgia factor make it my fave as well! Thanks, all, for the comments!

I remember the SC armor and at the time I didn't like it as it was too much of a departure from the classic armor ... but the art quickly won me over due to pages like this. Congrats, this is spectacular!

You might’ve started out slow/reluctant but the killer art wore you down, eh, Dave? Well, how could it not?! ;) Glad you like, man - the armor as well as the page!

Great page but panel 3 steals the show. Look at that windup. Poor ship never had a chance.

No problem, Paul, your comments, earlier or later, are always appreciated! And I totally agree. This page is a great example of the action oriented storytelling we love in this medium - that's why I bought it! Thanks, man!

A Bright/Layton page featuring the silver centurion armor? You can't get an Iron Man page better than that in my opinion. I loved this armor when I was a kid and couldn't understand why they would ever get rid of it.
