DescriptionLove Puma. Another Native American character (2nd post today!) with a great design, and I loved his battles, both in terms of the actual physical fights AND the dialogue back and forth, with Spider-Man. When I think Puma I think “Ron Frenz” and “Sal Buscema”, so I’m definitely glad to add this to the collection. I have other art featuring Puma, including by Spectacular Sal, but this is my first page with him battling Spidey. Thanks, www.comic-mint.com, for the very easy transaction!3 great splashy panels from top to bottom. Love the swirling movement exhibited in the big middle panel with their bodies and the circle lines. The dialogue is great, too. Spidey: “Who, ME?” Well, maybe not YOU specifically, lol. My favorite panel is actually that last one, with a great faceoff shot, and the contrast of the speed/movement lines on the top left of each figure vs the all-black elsewhere is perfect. Characters? Check! Battling? Check! Nostalgia inducing? BIG check! And anyone who’s got the line on others, holla! Oh yes, and this post also functions as a reminder…I WILL get a Frenz page from ASM 257 soon! Hopefully :) Lastly, there was a note in the margins for each panel: Panel 1: THEY FLY INTO OUTER OFFICES Panel 2: CRASH & THRASH AROUND Panel 3: LAND & FACE AGAIN – SPIDEY KNOWS HE’S IN A BATTLE Good stuff! A fabulous looking three panel action page, and you may one day yet become the "King of Puma Appearances"! This comes from what I think to be the best period of Sal's pencils & inks career. Rock solid, baby!

I hope to get there, man! If I can get an ASM 257 page, for me, it's a done deal :) If not, there's always another route! And when I think "Sal Buscema" I always think "Spectacular Sal" because I associate his work first with this series, particularly the issues featuring Puma and Tombstone. Thanks for the add!

How can Puma tell Spidey is an Anglo underneath a full mask? Puma sense tingles at colonizing oppression? An exciting Sal Buscema fully formed action piece with all the great energy waves coming from the center of the page makes this one a standout!

STRONG page, man! Particularly love how that middle panel is constructed - so much motion conveyed! Congrats, man!

Puma is stronger than Spider-Man? Hmm. Well it's a great action page!

May depend on the encounter? Coincidentally the last Puma CAF post prior to this one is the cover to Spectacular Spider-Man 111, in Yasha Yothi's collection. Check out the description :) Thanks for the add, West!

Sal's style was really evolving at this time and you can see he had fun with this. Love the margin notes as well and see them on a lot of Sal's art. Seeing the creative process is so fun. Congrats, thanks for sharing!

And you'd know :) Thanks for the add, Dave. I know you're a HUGE Sal B fan, mostly on his work featuring another character, I think ;) And yes, aren't those margin notes great?! Sweet bonus with this pickup, and with some older pages in general!

What a great page! Don't often see panel pages from Sal's epic SSM run let alone a great page like this! Bravo buddy!

Sal is one of my all-time favorite Spidey artists, and I love the Puma, as well, so this page is an absolute winner in my book. Congrats!

It's hard to find a great Spidey page like this on the open market. Lucky you! Action and socially conscious dialogue the only way Marvel knows how.

Lol, appreciate the new lyrics to go along with the classic jingle! Thanks, John, and make mine Marvel :)

Defrinitely prime period Sal, and yeah, he knew how to draw a great face-off between two characters. Really dig that middle panel too. I'm so glad you got this one, because I know what a huge Puma fan you are. Congrats on both your posts!

Now this is a Puma page. Righteous anger, acrobatic moves, and what a tussle. I so dig the circular action lines in the middle panel and these two speedy powerhouses use their agility to try and get the upper hand. Very cool. And Sal may not have ever drawn the suit webbing quite that perfect. It looks amazing. ;) You were right to jump on this page. Big congrats!

I don't know think I noticed the suit webbing, but you're right - spectacular ;) I think it particularly shines on the smaller full figure shot in the bottom panel - meticulous stuff! Appreciate the comments, man. I know you're a a fellow Sal B/Spidey/Puma fan :)

Awesome Spidey page! Love Sal's art on Spider-Man, he has a real gift for portraying ol' web-head! Three strong panels, but the central one is my favorite--Love the impact of Puma slamming into Spidey and sending books and papers and chairs flying! Just a great battle page by the incredible Sal Buscema!

Another beauty, K. I love the tight webbing on Spidey's suit (always makes me think of Ditko), and that middle panel especially has a definite Gil Kane feel thanks to the inks. Really Spectacular pick up (so to speak), and consider me stunned as well that this page was out there in the open, just waiting for someone to add it to their collection. It's home now, in the best possible place! Congrats, man!

Sal Buscema was my Spider-Man artist as kid. Most associate him with Hulk but when I think of Sal, I think of Spider-Man.
