Description

1989, Very early comic book work by the visionary co-creator of Batman: The Animated series as well as one of the top pin-up artists of his generation.

This hard-boiled, pulp inspired cover art dates from quite early in Timm's career in comics. Running from 1988 to 1990, Spicy Tales reprinted very mature comic stories that ran in Crime pulps like Spicy Detective Stories in the 1930s and 40s. This is the only cover that Timm did for the run and among the most memorable. Some researchers also suggest that this may have been the first cover Timm had published for a regular comic book series with only his credited work on the Masters of the Universe give-away comics preceding it!
