Description

Love me some good old Ben Reilly with his original Scarlet Spider costume. I know some (many?) hated that Clone Sage period, and while I admit there were many problems with it story-wise, I personally loved it.
Those were the first US comic books I could get my grabby mittens on, all the way across the ocean in distant France, and man, Mark Bagley, Steven Butler, Sal Buscema and even John Romita Jr to a lesser extent, were my personal dream team of the time.
Anyway, this is a nice page from Ben's first official title as the original Peter Parker (which I, naively, assumed would stay for good - I was seduced by that status quo shaking) where he dives into a virtual reality world (2017 all over again, anyone?) to save his friend Seward Trainer. And there he comes upon virtual versions of his worse foes among which... is Carnage.
Simple in its composition, this page is fluid and reads very well visually. The inking by the great Larry Mahlstedt is always appreciated. And did I say that I love Scarlet Spider?

I am proud to say I am a HUGE fan of the Clone Saga. After the initial shock, I was ready to settle in and let Ben Reilly take center stage for a good long time, and I really enjoyed his adventures as Spider-Man. Congrats on a terrific page!
