I've been meaning to add those pages to my CAF for many years, but couldn't find the time or kept pushing, don't really know why since this double spread by Bagley is the bomb. Perhaps because that was my first art by Mark who is my favorite artist? Who knows...

Anyway, as you can see, this one has it all.
It's action-packed with the SHIELD who sent the big guns to neutralize Harry in his Goblin form.
It's also a personal and poignant moment as Harry clearly stands no chance against this powerful attack as it's so aptly depicted in panels 2 and 4 (especially panel 2) where we feel his suffering. Suffering that is prolonged by Pete's dramatic reaction in panel 7 and pose in panel 10.
Yet the most poignant moment clearly is when Harry becomes human again and is apparently shell-shocked (I think we assume he is dying - I don't recall exactly, I've read this issue many moons ago.)

The overall clarity of the storytelling is, as always, an impressive feat from Mark, especially with the double spread option and this particular breakdown that he abundantly and so masterfully used on his Ultimate run.

Of note: Scott Hanna's inking job is very delicate and varied, a great result to witness up close.

Awesome spread. Bagley's illustration and storytelling chops on full display! Great movement through the panels and it's clear that this is a hopeless situation for poor Harry. And this was your first Bagley?! Nice choice! Congrats!
