DescriptionGene Day sure could sling that ink! IMO, the one true worthy successor to Paul Gulacy on MOKF. A Gulacy cover is next-to-impossible (there are only four of them and no one's letting theirs go), so quite happy to have gotten this Day beauty. Been waiting years for the right one to become available. Finally, the day (sorry!) has arrived.Social/Sharing |

What an awesome cover! And don't apologize for that pun--the piece deserves it. I also like the alliteration on that tagline. Congrats!

Gene Day was primarily known as the inker on MOKF while Mike Zeck was still penciling the title. That all changed when Gene took over all artistic duties. This is a great cover to showcase Gene Day's penciling and inking skills. Cheers! N.

From the layout to the crammed full and unusual (for this title) content to the superb inking, this is one hell of a MoKF cover. Cheers!

After spending the first several years of his career in Canadian self publishing and finally breaking into Marvel as an inker over Infantino on Star Wars, he finally began to break out when he took over the art on MoKF himself. I recall he had only just begun to get noticed by the fans when he was doing his run on this book, and I believe much bigger titles and characters were in his future, which likely would've catapulted him into fan favorite status. At least I thought so at that time. I always feel a tinge of sadness when people post Gene's art, because as great as it looks, it's a constant reminder of how fleeting life can be, more so when you don't take care of yourself, which by all accounts he didn't. I believe he was only 31 when he died of a coronary, and I can't help but think what this hobby would be like has there been a nice long run of Gene Day covers on titles like Fantastic Four, Avengers, or X-Men. Either way, congratulations on acquiring this beautiful example of hi

....of his work, Felix. Hey, at least now we've discovered that we have to keep our messages to just short of 8 lines in length if we want to wax nostalgic about an artist and his art!

Interesting to read about Day's story. Not familiar with him, yet this cover is a beauty to behold. So much depth andb lack and detail...look at the drop on Shang-Chi's hand for example. So much to take in. Enjoy!
