Well, it's time for another batch of Decepticons in this series of commissions Joel Carroll is doing for me, wherein he draws some Transformers both how they looked as toys and how they looked in the cartoon/comics. First, we have Soundwave, who was always at Megatron's side, had a small army inside his own body, and had a really cool voice in the cartoon. Soundwave was one of the first Decepticons I ever got, and I remember that my Dad gave him to me for Christmas. Later, I somehow broke his head off, and had to glue it back on. Of course after that, I could no longer put his head down when transforming him, so it was always up. Oh, well. Next up is Rumble, who I got in a 2-pack with Ravage. Rumble was another Transformer who got a lot of showcase time in the cartoon with his ability to cause earthquakes. But Rumble was yet another victim of my early carelessness with my Transformers. I somehow messed up the spring which made his head pop up in transformations and he never quite looked right afterwards. Then we have the the Stunticon Combiner - Menasor! I acquired all of the Stunticons over a few months and I was so happy when I finally got their leader, Motormaster and was able to finally combine them. Menasor looked very cool to me with his many different colors and the fact that he had a big sword instead of just a gun. And finally there's the bravest Decepticon of all: Starscream! Every time Megatron was even slightly wounded or absent for any reason, Starscream courageously volunteered to take command. Why, if Starscream had been in charge of the Decepticons, I'm sure that their war with the Autobots would have been over years ago! Unfortunately, I never owned Starscream. I wanted him, but my allowance only allowed for so much, and birthdays and Christmases were limited. Maybe one day. Anywho, Joel once again did an outstanding job with these commissions. Joel's level of detail on the toy versions is so great that it brings back memories for me of my old personal collection. Seeing little things like the way Rumble's arms bend and how Drag Strip made a much taller shoulder for Menasor really made me smile. And the animated/comics versions look fantastic as well! I love that Joel color-corrected Rumble for me, as he was always miscolored in the cartoon. And Joel really makes me notice all of the small details and coloring differences between the two versions with his depictions here, including some I've never noticed before! Thanks once again, Joel!
