DescriptionThis commission started for me back in early 2020 when Spencer Beck reached out to me asking if I'd be interested in getting a single figure commission by Walt Simonson as he was accepting up to 10 requests at the time. I of course said yes. I asked to be last as I wanted to see if I could talk Walt into doing two commissions for me and a month later after all the slots were full he said ok. A few months later I asked for 6 commissions and in fact I asked for them to be of individual figures that when hung on the wall near each other they would have a common theme. I showed several examples of what other artists did for me which he enjoyed seeing and to this day I believe that was what finally sold him on the whole idea of a huge battle scene which he agreed on a few days later. After finishing everyone else's commissions, Walt started my rough layout on April 2nd, 2022 and we agreed on the layout and characters that would be used after he e-mailed me a few sketches which I'll post what I have below. This finished commission is 62" x 42" high and will be the centerpiece of my framed wall art in my home office.....as soon as I figure out how to get it here.Social/Sharing |

Wow! The saga of this piece has been great to follow along online while Simonson was working on it! This is everything and more when seen here in its full glory!

You sir, are a god. Not the Almighty but a smaller Demi-god nevertheless.

And even though the Warriors Three knew it would of been a much harder battle, they were really hoping for a tighter woven chain mail.

Wow, congrats on finally getting it! This will be your "Fave of 2025" for next year's episode for sure! All our favourites are here, and Surter himself is absolutely majestic. I've never seen Walter go so crazy with the crosshatching, either. All that extra work he put in on Surter is outstanding. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!

The Ragnarok of all commissions. This cannot be overstated.

This is so next-level, I wouldn't have even thought to ask for something this extreme. All of the superlatives I can imagine and then then ones I am not aware of apply to this piece. The wheels of my mind are turning! Hearty congrats, and thanks for sharing this with us. Please consider a pic (and story of how you did it) when it is framed and on the wall. The ultimate commission mic drop accomplished!

Showing Walt the X-Men #107 commission by Dave Cockrum was what sealed the deal on him taking on the project :)

Find a new word ... commission is an inadequate word to describe the brilliance of this piece. Major congratulations!
