The news of his impending death came as a great shock to me.

You can never find a good carpenter when you really need one.

Stylistically, Breathed is one of my favorite cartoonists. And Bloom County was one of the strips I most looked forward to, back in the day when we all still read newspapers. Visually, I loved all the BC characters, but probably had a softer spot for the animals ones. Especially Opus. Seeing this brings back a lot of fun memories. I'm probably about the same height as Bill the Cat, so I can really appreciate the humor here.

Bill the Cat was always the standout part of Bloom County. Bill in the electric chair? Awesome!

Never underestimate Mr. Breathed's ability to elicit a guffaw! Had a pretty big outburst at the "initial fitting" line... :) Even to this day, Berke's set ups and timing feel smooth and flawlessly executed, his wit still has bite and edge, and the whole thing just feels... COOL. Dang, man - you got a Bill the Cat strip! Serious congrats! Another killer add to your fantastic collection, Rick! Huge congrats!
