DescriptionThis is my grail piece. I fell in love with this image as a kid and was really fortunate to get it in the early 2000's before it became unaffordable. I should probably upload a better scan one of these days.If you like this layout, check out my Legion of Super-Heroes gallery for a Mike Grell commission that I asked him to base on this cover. I then commissioned Bob McLeod for an inked version, which was used as the cover art to Back Issue Magazine #14. Social/Sharing |

A really awesome cover! Gil Kane is a master of composition and Adkins did a bang-up job on the inks! If you have more outstanding stuff like this - don't be shy - show it off! No one appreciates comic art as much as those of us here on CAF.

I remember buying this as a kid, already a massive Gil Kane fan, and still LOVE the line work on it. Fantastic pencils and Adkins also did a complimentary ink job on them. I always hated Karnak's face here, and it hasn't improved with age, but that's obviously a ridiculously minor quibble on such a classic Kane cover. Congrats!

Black Bolt is one of my favorite Kirby character designs and Kane is the best Marvel cover artist of the 70s. Together = grail. Huge congrats on a memorable and awesome cover!

Gil being great Gil..yes. I really like Dan Adkin's Inks..I also like his pencils...underappreciated IMHO.
