Description

30" X 12". Original acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Circa 2013. Painting for the book, "Living Among Giants: Exploring and Settling the Outer Solar System", based on the Cassini Probe images of Saturn's B Ring. The icy particles of Saturn�s B Ring form great fins of material two times the height of Mount Everest. The painting dreams of the scene that might meet an explorer there. In the background, the moons Mimas (left), Tethys and Enceladus (including the blue emanating plumes) are shown to correct relative size. Artist Carroll composed this painting with the advice of the Cassini imaging team leader, Carolyn Porco.
