Description

15" X 11" by Rick Sternbach. Original acrylic painting on illustration board. According to the artist, this was done in the 1970's for one of the astronomy magazines. It's titled on the back "Uranus in Virgo" which has nothing to do with astronomy, instead pertaining to a zodiac personality characteristic. Nevertheless, this image depicts looking at Uranus from one of its many ice moons.

I look upon Uranus and wonder at the the faint rings, noduled surfaces, and methane atmosphere that absorbs all red light and causes the green color of the gasses. Uranus is also very large having a width four times the size of the Earth. Imagine that, you can fit 4 spheres the size of the Earth into Uranus. The more you look at uranus, the more you want to explore its many mysteries.
