Description

Chris Giarusso's G-Man is a web and graphic novel comic strip featuring a young cartoonist who has fashioned a cape from magical material. His cape gives him a variety of powers. I've admired Chris' work on G-Man for some time and I really like it. He seemed like a natural for the sketchbook.

When I saw him at Heroescon 2018, I had him add a drawing to the sketchbook. I gave him the reference material for a wide selection of Mayer characters and let him pick the image and the characters. Chris chose S&S and he nailed it. Click the image to see a bigger picture:

As is most common on my commissions, I added Chris and an S&S 100 cover idea to a list that I keep for my wife as a source of gift ideas. This Christmas, Kathy arranged a tribute cover for Sugar and Spike #100 with Chris and Chris again crushed it.�

The story is a crossover where our troublesome toddlers manage to get G-Man's magic cape and run away with it. G-Man and his friends are in hot pursuit. The idea is 100% his. I only suggested involving G-Man and his friends.

Chris has a real feel for S&S and even recognized that that their dialog is not understood by adults and is represented by a dialog bubble that differs from the one that adults use.
