Description

Coming soon to Red 5 is Beorn, the Littlest Viking Saga. Beorn started as a Kickstarter in April, 2020.

Now Red 5 is releasing the first arc and subsequent story arcs as individual comics while Ben uses Kisckstarter to fund the next stories.

So, what is Beorn about? The Kickstarter copy says, “Readers will be introduced to Beorn, and the fantastical island on which he lives. You will get a first look at the magic (and danger!) that awaits our little Viking. What adventure will find young Beorn as he travels this new land? What mystery? What peril? And will the Littlest Viking be big enough to rise to the challenges that come his way?

I met Ben Bender at HeroesCon years ago and I’ve enjoyed his work especially Beorn. I had mentioned to Kathy that he might be a good candidate for one of my Sugar and Spike covers. In the meantime, my grandson, Lars, has grown to look a lot like Beorn. Kathy and my daughter decided to commission Ben. The idea was to team Lars and his dog, Rufus, with Beorn as the run, literally, into Sugar and Spike in this case.

The cover also reflects Ben’s appreciation of Calvin and Hobbes and their frequent wagon rides.

Color is the way to go in order to achieve full potential of the story when there's a mix of non uniformed characters. It is handled very well with this collision course.
