When this became available I just had to pull the trigger.
Somehow I knew that I was very close to loosing it pretty much forever
or at least for a long time and the regret would have be painful.
In fact, as this book hit the shelves back in Dec. 1999, this David Finch
cover was the one wich got me thinking: "Wow, how cool would it be to have
a look at the original...". David is still one of my favorite artists but I
just like his TopCow covers the most thoug, not only because it has been
flawlessly inked by Joe Weems. There are three TR covers by Finch, each one
has been inked by a different inker. Now I own it and did decide to not hide
it away forever. ;-)

This cover suits a #1 very well as it was created to sell the book.
Even if you have never heard of TR or played a game of the series,
this cover is meant to get you hooked. At least I got hooked this way:
The woman is hurt, holding an empty shot pistol in the middle of
a jungle, far away from civilisation. She obviously has a story to tell how she
got there already. And now we see that those ruins might be the reason why
she got there. Hmmm.... must be something very inportant, there lies even more
adventure before her. How did she get there? Who is she? Do I have to buy the
book to find out how her face looks like and ... WOW! Andy Park interiors,
OK I buy it.

Watched the movie today. Not bad in my opinion, if their goal was to satisfy
the gamers I think they did a good job on that. Nice adventure movie, looking
forward to the coming sequel(s). Although there were some parts which could
have been (more) logical. No spoilers, go and watch it by yourself.

Finch puts thought and care into every line he puts to paper. That is why he easily stands out among the modern day artists. Great cover, fully fleshed out and inviting to the eye on many levels.

Awesome, good times, magical times even.

I abolutely love Joe's work, also his way to stepping up the inking game in general, by mixing varnish into the ink to make it not only black but super black?? Legendary.

Also the Tomb Raider 1 cover is inked flawlessly, I always appreciate the care being put in by you guys.
