Description

Though not a doodle per say, this piece recently came my way. And while I already got a similar one, I couldn’t let this pass me up.

Hiroshi Nagahama is the director of all things Mushishi in animation (two “seasons” of a tv show, a tv special and a movie adapting the eponymous splendid manga, both of which I strongly recommend. If you like the poetry and ecological aspect of the Ghibli movies, this is in the same vein without the kid friendly dimension) and a great animator/artist in his own right.

This drawing was drawn on a shikishi board to thank the staff of the Made in Asia convention.

It features Ginko, the series’ hero, wandering the old mysterious Japanese country to solve various paranormal mysteries/problems stemming from Japanese lore, legends and folklore.

A really neat landscape produced with very few lines. Beautiful in its simplicity.

Really lovely scene with minimal lines. I love the little I've seen of the animation episodes.

Wow - this is really, REALLY beautiful and reminds me of something Moebuis would draw because of its incredible and "perfect" simplicity (just as Rubén said). An incredibly rich, fully realized scene with enchantingly few lines. I am not at all familiar with Mr. Nagahama's work, but certainly need to learn more about it... Another great "doodle"! :) Congrats, FM!
