I tried to haggle one time with a dealer who just won't budge and then lost a chance at 2 POTA pages by Michael Ploog. So this time I wheeled and dealt and gave up 3 pages to get this page. Oddly it is from the same story as my other POTA page I got most 7 years ago. AND I have a third page from this same story coming in the mail which I just flat out paid cash to get.

I love the POTA stuff by Moench and Ploog. Inker Frank Chiaramonte was I think was Ploog's best inker as I believe Frank enhanced the work but left it as Ploog. I imagine Ploog's style was a challenge to make it stay true to his linework. I have read Ditko was notoriously hard to ink.

Very happy to add this to my collection.

The right time period for the movie franchise and Marvel had Ploog who's work is very cinematic on a magazine title where he can show off the best of what b&w comics could offer. The Chiaramonte inks and wash enhanced the presentation to put it over the top.

Fun page. I personally think that Ploog is his own best inker though.

I agree, but Frank was second best as others I think often hurt Ploog's art.
