DescriptionI was thrilled to pickup this cover in 2020. It features the second appearance of Killraven (part two of his origin story), who was basically a future superhero, set in the world of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds.Parts one and two were penciled by Neal Adams and Howard Chaykin, but the series is probably best known for the beautiful art that P. Craig Russell did on many issues. (I have a trippy page by him elsewhere in my gallery.) This cover is by Herb Trimpe and Mike Esposito and the GCD credits John Romita with corrections (although I"m not seeing anything too obvious). The story is called "The Sirens of Seventh Avenue", but this cover obviously takes place in front of the New York Public Library on 42nd and 5th Avenue. The "Curb Your Dog" sign on the ground is amusing, considering that Killraven is fighting mutant dogs among other creatures. Social/Sharing |

Oh wow Ted, you continue to impress. As you know, Gerber tied this run in with his Guardians. I thought that was a great idea on his part. Congrats on the pickup.

Thanks Bill. Yeah -- I really liked those sci-fi/superhero mashups that Marvel (and particularly Steve Gerber) did in the 70's!

Great Killraven cover - superb Trimpe artwork! That was such an exciting run, and this cover is so explosive.
