DescriptionThis was the cover to a World War II graphic novel called Duster, about a woman named Jo Baker who flies a crop duster to aid in the war effort. While Howard did not provide the interior art for this book, his striking cover art led me to buy the book and I quite enjoyed it. I bought this 11” x 17” cover, years ago, from Howard at a comics convention. Howard's graphic sensibilities and storytelling ability are second to none.Social/Sharing |

It's always nice when my CAF friends post things to remind me that my collection is still missing pieces by some of the true greats in comics. I've enjoyed Chaykin's work for years and years, but have yet to land a nice example for myself. Thanks for showing me how it's done. Great Chaykin cover!

Thank you for the very kind words, Eric. I'm sure you will add a great Chaykin piece to your most impressive collection some day soon.

Compelling cover image by the statesman of old school comics illustration. From start to finish, this cover glows with skill, technique, and a feel for the time and place simply through the staging and character design.

Thank you for the comment, Marcus. As you note, Chaykin has assimilated and thought deeply about the styles of the great twentieth century illustrators. His work is a master class in design.

I don't care what he's drawing; if it's by Howard Chaykin, chances are high that I'm going to love seeing it. A really great cover that would pull me into buying the book as well! Congrats, A K!

Thank you, Jason! The book is a fun and vintage action-packed story and I would definitely recommend it to you, especially if you like books like the Rocketeer.
