Description

The New Universe line gets a lot of flack from fans in general, but many of the comics in the line were among my favourite comics then and still are now. Spitfire & The Troubleshooters was my favourite New Universe comic as a kid. I drew countless variations of the MAX armour in my own comics etc., over and over again, while growing up.

*This* issue was always an all-time favourite, and the fact that it was drawn by Todd McFarlane was a big reason. A page from this issue is a grail item for me, and this one is signed by both Todd & Bob! I am extremely happy to have this particular one, as it always stood out in my memory. The panel with Jenny's battered face revealed as Steelhawk flips open the helmet is fantastic artwork. And I've always felt that the following moment where Bakti's dialogue turns into the flowing caption of screaming in pain as we see that Jenny has broken his leg was always a very clever bit of sequential art & lettering done in perfect tandem.

Very cool page. The New Universe stuff doesn’t get enough credit in my opinion.
