DescriptionNo Dracula...but does it really matter?ToD issue #50 page with Gene Colan and Tom Palmer's killer rendition of the Silver Surfer soaring on his board, plus Shalla-Bal! From the classic 1976 story: "Where Soars the Silver Surfer!" Colan and Palmer drew many great issues of ToD with Dracula and his crew. But how many with Silver Surfer? Just one. And this page is one of the nicest, if not THE nicest, from that issue. Social/Sharing |

Wow, there is a lot of great stuff going on in this page. Gene's storytelling style was so dynamic! That Surfer image in the center of the page seems to be coming right at you. Congrats Steve!

Most Exquisite Colan Art!!!! The Face of Shalla-Bal alone is worth the price of admission!!!

It is a wonderful page, indeed. I love the way Gene and Tom use the sulfurous smoke to transition from the horned Satanist in billowing robes casting his spell to the Silver Surfer soaring through the skies of a city. It is pure comic book magic (and for a bonus they throw in a panel of the Surfer pining for Shalla-Bal).

Colan and Palmer on the Surfer? This page makes me just wish they had done more. Their all-too brief take on the character is nothing but briliant!...

While Davich had the first post, I get to write the 'Silver' post (25th comment). I may start a trend here with silver, gold, and century postings. Regardless, this was a neat Colan issue that took a fantasy villain in his own title and combined it with a cosmic superhero - a true combo of cosmic fantasy goodness. Congrats on adding another stellar page to your collection.
