DescriptionJohn Watson’s work on JSA and Hawkman covers was truly spectacular! When I had an opportunity to commission him for a 16” x 24” oil on canvas board JSA painting, I jumped at the chance! Picking a manageable number of characters was the only challenge with this commission as there were so many amazing characters from that Golden Age of comics. Ultimately, I went with Doctor Fate, The Spectre, Alan Scott Green Lantern, Jay Garrick Flash, Hawkman, Superman and Batman. I could not be more pleased with the end result!Social/Sharing |

It's always good to see Johns painted work and this is a great mix of characters including Hawkman where he created some of his nicest DC work !

This oil painting is on another level and in a class by itself! I remember art like this that made for standout covers and cards. Great to see his latest work.

Very nice. Definitely cover worthy. If there was a new comic featuring a story based on it it I'd be tempted to actually buy a new comic again. But I suppose that would distract me from looking at artwork so perhaps just as well.
