Description"Green Nebula" by Bob Layzell, 2014. 24" x 24", acrylic on board. Commissioned as a cover for the sci-fi book, "The Star Protocol", but sadly, never used. When I first met Bob Layzell, this piece had been sold. Despite a horrible, off-color photo Bob had of it where much of the upper half had been cropped out, I still fell hopelessly in love with it and couldn't get it out of my mind for years. So much so that Bob painted a second version of it, appropriately called "Green Nebula II". I bought that second version with the belief I would never see or have a chance at the original, this one. After all, Bob couldn't remember who commissioned it or where it went. Good detective work backed by my OCD-fueled passion to find it was finally rewarded when I located it. I was blown away to see there was much more to the image than I was aware of, not to mention the correct color was amazing. It added even more anxiety to my desire to have it. I was so encouraged to think it could finally be mine after years of hoping, now that I had located it. That dream was shattered when the owners (authors of the book who hired Bob to paint it), were open to sell it but had lost it in a recent move!!! Still, I persisted. After nearly another year and me being a never-ending pain in their butt, they found it! And here it is! As artist and fellow colleague of Bob Layzell, Jim Burns had once complimented, this is an exceptional work using a limited palette. I've included the only photo Bob had of it and what I originally fell in love with. Social/Sharing |

GPS maps should definitely adjust to avoid this route permanently. At the very least a left turn sign should be placed in front of it. All the different emerald hues radiating out of nebula are astounding to attract your eye to clues of the massive creature within and the resultant graveyard of ships.

I bet the movers accidentally put it the box with the spatulas. Movers.
