Description

“…..a Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer!”

So I met up with/ Simon in Italy, and….this happened. Here’s a hearty helping of Conan, as rendered by the main man, Simon Bisley! A stellar artist, and a great bloke to boot. He really went the extra mile with the foreground and background details.

Bisley's style flat out WORKS for this chaotic Conan scene! Reminds me of some of those covers back when. Congrats, gene!

I talked with Biz about the old "Savage Sword" magazine covers from back in the day. He's definitely a fan of the Frazetta stuff.

Killer piece by the great Simon Bisley! What a great idea to have Bisley do his take on Conan the Barbarian! He has made a name for himself doing kickass covers of characters like Lobo and Slaine and other fantasy characters, why not use that same attitude to do a number on everybody's favorite Cimmerian? And, looking at the final result, I'd say it was a spectacular success! Bisley's illiustration of Conan has the same crazed intensity he brings to Lobo, but with a Swords and Sorcery motif! I love how bulked up Conan is here and there's a element of berzerker rage to Conan's attack! You can see the sheer craziness in his eyes! Fabulous commission, congrats!
