DescriptionMan's Best is a 5 issue mini series from last year with incredible interiors by Jesse Lonergan. It's a story about 3 Emotional Support animals onboard a ship traveling through space. The ship crash lands on an unknown planet and the three friends embark on a journey to rescue their owner from mysterious peril. Along the way, their friendship is challenged as they deal with self doubts and fear that they aren't up to the task at hand. This page from issue 2 features Porthos, the dog, doing dog like things. Running before thinking! Any dog owner has seen this sort of behavior and it always leaves us scratching our heads "What were you thinking?!?" Porthos thinks they have arrived at the location where their owner is located and just charges in full steam ahead only to realize the "building" she thought she was running towards reveals itself to be a structure made up entirely of an army of robotic beings. She immediately regrets her decision and attempts to turn tail and run back to safety! Jesse, man, what a talent. His panel layouts, his visually stunning designs, the flow of his pages...just all adds up to some truly special comic art! I love the first reveal of one of the robots being alerted to Porthos' presence, and then the rest of the robots disengaging and tumbling down to give chase. Also love the panel of Porthos desperately running away from all of the enemies now after her. Thrilled to have been able to pick this one up from The Artist Bullpen (Jesse's reps). There are plenty of budget friendly examples still available and I think Jesse's work is something quite special! The story may not be for everyone as it can be pretty trippy, but if you are a pet owner and dig some heartfelt sci-fi...I'd definitely check this one out! It's a journey well worth taking! Hey! Thanks! If you check it out, please let me know what you think of it! I can't say it's for everyone, but given you like stories with animals and you appreciate this art...I think you'll dig it!

Great Lonergan patterns and layout! The dog stands out and is very endearing in the small panel to win you over for the rest of the story.

That panel of her turning around is so relatable, reminds me of my lab when she gets spooked!

The true beautiful of the hobby and power of CAF. And the more I look at the page the more I really love the top three panels and how they make me think about the sequence

I am not a pet owner and I hate most Sci-Fi. Will I still love this?
