15" x 10" image area. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Batman #225 Page 5 Original Art (DC 1970). Irv Novick and Mike Esposito.

This Irv Novick page with inks by Mike Esposito comes from Batman #225, early in the "Creature of the Night" era that took Batman back to his 1939 roots as a mysterious vigilante who works at night. It features strong images of Batman on the move in four out of five panels, as he works a case in the city.

Irv Novick was one of the best artists of the "Creature of the Night" era of Batman from the early Bronze Age. Novick had worked in comics since the Golden Age, but his work really peaked in the early 1970s when he was a key contributor to Batman and also the main artist on The Flash.
