DescriptionI don't know if you heard tell of the Heroes 2022 auction but boy howdy was it a right ruckus affair. After getting spizzedy-spanked on my first attempt to win something, I regrouped, enlisted a Top Tier consultant (Thanks SC!), and engaged in ferocious battle. I emerged victorious, and check out this bling! I've been a fan of Jeremy's work for some time, but not quite long enough. His Patreon is tied up tight and his drops are hotly contested. Larger pieces are like unicorns. If you ever see one in person, you will understand why. The workmanship defies description, the aesthetic is utterly charming and unique, and the more I find out about Jeremy, the more I discover what a great person he is. He was at the con but I was not able to meet him, and the win took place on his birthday, June 25th. Huzzah! No portfolio for this beauty - straight to frame. Okay, without even a hint of exaggeration, this is far and away, over and above, by orders of magnitude THE SINGLE MOST IMPRESSIVE illustration I've ever seen Bastian create! I doff my cap...

Gorgeous and intricate piece and loved watching you real it in at the auction! I've seen hair atop a skull in art before, but I can't recall a 'stash, let alone one of this swashbuckling character. The swirling shapes in the background are as impressive to me as all the other amazing textures in the piece. Every part of this must have taken careful planning and painstaking execution.

Thanks Mike! And you are absolutely correct - the planning part of this must have been mind-boggling! I can't even imagine how one goes about executing something like this. I take my hat off to the artist (and put it on a skull).

Straight to frame for the win!
I got caught up in conversations and missed most of the auction, including seeing this piece. Thanks for the large scan so I can soak up some of the details.
Congrats - this is mind-blowing. Those details are insanely good

It's always a treat to see the pieces Jeremy brings to auction, and he surpasses himself with every passing year. I can't imagine how this one can be topped (though I am sure he will continue to shock and awe in 2023). This piece is something that can stand on its own without its comicbook antecedents, a magnificent still life (life?) that takes your breath away with its interplay of light and shadow. Wonderful addition to your gallery!

Thank you! I didn't realize he had released this as a print. Do you happen to know what the title of the print is? Cheers!

Sorry, been a while, just noticed this. There was no title of such on the print, it's larger sized 11x17ish and just catches so many comments from guests. It was a limited (I believe 14 or 15 for paetrons). One of my favorite pieces I've ever seen by him for some reason, just screams of mystery and amazement.
