DescriptionGuys, this is really something special! I'm super excited to add this piece to my collection. This Alex Toth title splash from Creepy #6. The story was a collaboration between Toth and legendary writer Archie Goodwin! The story itself is FANTASTIC! It's a story about a man who's recounting events to his shrink involving Aliens that nobody else ever sees. The man thinks he's going nuts but the fun twist here is that he is actually one of the Aliens. His ship had crashed on earth so long ago, and he had been taking on the guise of a human for so long, that he actually forgot who he really was and where he really came from.Alex Toth is a genius comic artist, illustrator and character creator. And my absolute favorite chunk of his body of comic work is his stent at Warren during the early days. It's where I fell in love with Alex Toth as a comic artist. It's very near and dear to my heart. Not only because it's where I fell in love with most of the artists and writers in that bull pin. But those anthologies are where I fell in love with comic books all over again, and Alex Toth was a HUGE part of that, and so was Goodwin. So this splash is really a double whammy that hits me square on both nostalgia funny bones. I picked this up from our most recent Heritage Summer Auction. I really can't believe that it got pushed back to round 4. This is right up at the top of my list re: Alex Toth. And the man really was a genius, who loved what he did. He even died at his drawing table.. he spent his last moments on earth doing what he loved the most, drawing. For anyone out there who is interested in Alex Toth, and his comics, and you haven't read his work for Warren Publishing: Creepy / Eerie / Blazing Combat. I highly highly recommend it. Dark Horse has published reprints through the Creepy and Eerie Archives, and I believe they've done a Creepy Presents: Alex Toth, containing just the work that he's done. I don't think they did the Blazing Combat reprints, I may be wrong, but either way if you haven't read Blazing Combat and you like war books... and you especially like early anti war, war books... Blazing Combat: read it. Man I cant stop admiring this piece. Holy smokes it's so awesome guys. This piece checked a GIANT box in my original list of comic art goals. I'm so happy it made it home safe and sound. I hope you guys enjoy seeing it. Thanks, ~Keith 5th Place in CAFs 2019 Best of: Published Splashes / Pinups Social/Sharing |

Keith. I had my eye on this at auction. It is very memorable to me as well. But in the end, reading your description and story, I'm glad I didn't either add to propping up the price and/or actually winning it. Even though I love it as well, it's obvious that it belongs with you! Congrats and enjoy!

Thanks Marc! You’re the second bullet I dodged in that auction. Another would-be was on vacation, and where they went had no internet...Destiny! I appreciate the kind words. I also like your super cool collection. That’s a lot of real nice Warren art! I super dig it! And
